Setanta

Insurance agencies

AI for insurance agencies, working in Wilmington.

Setanta helps independent agencies put Claude to work on the paperwork between a client and a decision: policy comparisons, proposals, forms and research. One agency in Wilmington, NC has done it and tells it in its own words.

What one agency reports

THG Insurance, in its own numbers.

THG is an independent agency in Wilmington, NC that works with 50 carriers. These figures are as reported by THG after putting Claude to work with Setanta.

Where Claude works

The work that sits between a client and a decision.

  • Policy comparisons.

Side-by-side reviews of 150-page policies, with every difference, pro, and con.

  • Renewal fire drills.

Confident proposals when a client’s policy renews in days.

  • Proposals.

Consistent, on-brand proposals built from past work in about five minutes.

  • Research and forms.

Company research, property details, and ACORD forms in one place.

That list is how THG describes where Claude works for it today. Setanta found the agency’s biggest bottlenecks and set Claude up around them, starting with the CEO’s own work.

Why it matters

The detail that decides a claim is rarely on page one.

Commercial policies run 150 pages or more. Comparing two or three used to mean a full day, sometimes a week, of reading line by line. THG now gives them to Claude and gets an itemized list of differences back in a couple of minutes.

Example from the THG Insurance story: one policy covers wind-driven rain up to the full limit, another caps it at a fraction.
PolicyPageWind-driven rain
Policy A84$60,000,000
Policy B84$1,000,000

“That’s buried on page 84 of the policy. If we miss that, shame on us. But Claude doesn’t.”

Chad Huneycutt, CEO, THG Insurance

Independent and local

Out-local the big guys, and look as polished.

As an independent agency, THG can move clients between carriers when the market shifts, but only if the team can move fast. Brewer Knox, THG’s Commercial Director, now builds a proposal in about five minutes that used to take about an hour and a half.

Where an agency starts

Three packages. Start wherever you are.

One fixed fee, agreed up front. Never hourly. Everything runs in your own accounts, and your team knows how it works when we leave.

  • Start with Launch if

Your team isn’t using AI yet, or you’re paying for seats nobody opens.

  • Start with Build if

Your team uses Claude, and one manual process still eats the most hours.

  • Start with Scale if

AI already runs inside the business, and you want it in what you sell.

Questions

What agency owners ask.

Can Claude compare insurance policies?

Yes. THG Insurance gives competing commercial policies, often 150 pages or more, to Claude and gets back an itemized list of the differences, pros and cons in a couple of minutes. A comparison that used to take a day, sometimes a week, now takes minutes, and the details buried deep in the fine print surface.

THG's CEO says of one such detail: “That’s buried on page 84 of the policy. If we miss that, shame on us. But Claude doesn’t.” Figures are as reported by THG Insurance.

Does using Claude mean fewer people at the agency?

Not at THG Insurance. Its CEO told the team from day one that Claude is a tool to make them better, not to replace them. THG is using Claude to grow, and its CEO expects to keep scaling at the same pace over the next six months without adding payroll.

Setanta turns down any brief that is really about replacing a team.

What happens to client data when an agency uses Claude?

Everything is built in your own accounts, with your vendor contracts and your credentials. Anthropic does not use business and enterprise API traffic to train models by default. Setanta takes no margin on model spend, and nothing depends on Setanta once the work is done.

Everything runs in your own accounts and infrastructure, with your team in the room.

Where should an insurance agency start with AI?

Start with the free Operating Diagnostic. It looks at how your agency works today, finds where Claude would move your numbers first, and tells you which package fits and the fixed fee. If your team is not using AI yet, that package is usually Launch.

One fixed fee, agreed up front. Never hourly. If it is not the right time, Setanta will say so.
