Industrial freight

AI for industrial freight carriers, on the quotes, dispatch context and paperwork.

Claude helps industrial freight carriers read shipper quote requests into a complete draft, answer shipment-status emails from your own records, brief dispatchers before they book, and assemble claims paperwork. Your pricing staff and dispatchers make the decisions. We have no freight client yet, and the Operating Diagnostic tells you whether it fits.

Buyer question

How can a carrier handle shipper quote requests faster?

Claude reads the request email, extracts origin, destination, commodity, dimensions, weight and special handling, and flags what is missing, such as a delivery appointment or an access limit. Pricing staff start from a complete request and the lanes you have run before, then set the rate themselves.

Industrial shippers describe loads in their own words: a press, a coil, a crated assembly. Someone has to turn that into dimensions and equipment needs before a rate is possible. Claude does the first pass and lists the questions to ask the shipper.

Rates, fuel, capacity and what you want on a lane are your decisions. Claude shows the history of similar quotes, and your pricing team decides what to do with it.

Buyer question

Can AI answer where-is-my-load emails?

Yes, from your own records. Claude reads the shipper's question, looks the load up in your transportation system export or tracking notes, and drafts a reply with the status and the next step. Dispatch reviews anything unusual first. A load it cannot find goes to a person and does not get a guess.

Status emails are repetitive, and they interrupt the people who are busiest. A drafted reply that already has the pickup time, the last check call and the expected delivery window turns a five-minute interruption into a quick read and a send.

We would start by drafting replies for dispatch to send. Whether any reply ever goes out without review is a decision for you, and we would suggest keeping a person in the loop.

Buyer question

How can Claude give dispatchers context before they book a load?

Before a dispatcher calls or books, Claude can pull the shipper's history, past problems at that facility, the equipment the load needs and notes from earlier trips into one short brief. The dispatcher reads it in a minute and makes the call. Who hauls what stays with them.

Much of what a good dispatcher knows is in their head or buried in old emails: the dock that closes at three, the shipper who changes appointments, the lane that needs a certain trailer. A brief makes some of that visible to the whole team.

It reads only what you give it. If your notes are thin, the brief will be thin. We would look at your records first and say what is realistic.

Buyer question

What freight claims and paperwork can AI prepare?

Claude can assemble a claim file from the bill of lading, delivery receipt, photos and driver notes, and draft the response letter, listing documents still missing. A claims specialist checks the facts and decides the position. It saves the search through email threads.

Claims and paperwork follow the same pattern as quoting: the information exists, but it is spread across inboxes, attachments and systems. Pulling it together is slow, and a missing document costs a week of back and forth.

Safety and compliance paperwork, such as hours-of-service records and permits, stays with the people accountable for it. Claude can help find and organize documents, and it does not make compliance judgments.

What stays with your people

Claude drafts. A person decides.

  • Rates, lane choices and capacity decisions stay with pricing and dispatch
  • Safety and compliance judgments stay with the people accountable for them
  • Claims positions and settlements stay with your claims staff
  • Relationships with shippers and drivers stay with your team

Where a mistake would cost money or a customer, a named person reviews the output before it leaves the building. We set up every workflow that way and write down who reviews what.

What we know and what we do not

No client here yet. The Diagnostic tells you if it fits.

Setanta has no published client among freight carriers, and we do not claim one. Carriers differ in their transportation software, their lanes and how much of their history is recorded. The Diagnostic looks at your own quote and status emails before any scope is written.

Our one published client story is THG Insurance, an independent agency in Wilmington, NC. It shows the pattern we look for: paperwork that sits between a person and a decision, with Claude put on the reading. The free Operating Diagnostic is where we find out whether your business has that pattern.

The dealer's own quoting, for parts, service and the rental fleet, is on AI for equipment dealers.

Questions

More questions from owners in this industry.

Does this work with the transportation system we already run?

It depends on the system and on how its data can be reached. Many workflows start with exports and documents you already have. The Diagnostic looks at what your system allows, and we say plainly where a workflow is practical and where it is not.

Does Claude dispatch trucks?

No. Claude prepares information for the people who dispatch: briefs, drafts and lookups. Booking a load, assigning a driver and changing a plan stay with dispatchers, who know things no record shows. We turn down briefs that are really about replacing that judgment.

Do you have industrial freight carrier clients?

No. Setanta's one published client story is THG Insurance in Wilmington, NC. This page describes what we would build, and the free Operating Diagnostic tells you whether it fits before you commit to anything.

What is the free Operating Diagnostic?

A free call (book a time) that looks at how your team works today. It finds where Claude would move your numbers first and the process worth fixing first, and says which package fits. If it is not the right time, we say so.
