Engineering and architecture
AI for engineering and architecture firms, on proposals and spec review.
Claude helps engineering and architecture firms with the writing and checking around the design work: proposal and RFP responses built from past projects, compliance matrices from the solicitation, specification and submittal review for mismatches, meeting minutes and project closeout documents. Licensed professionals keep every professional judgment. Setanta has no A&E client yet, and the Diagnostic tells you whether it fits.
Where Claude helps
The work that fills the week.
Principals and project managers spend hours on proposals that mostly re-assemble earlier work, and on document checks that depend on someone reading carefully at the end of a long day.
Proposals and RFP responses
Claude prepares
Claude reads the solicitation, builds a compliance matrix of everything it asks for, and drafts the response from your past proposals and project descriptions, in your firm's voice.
A person decides
A principal edits and owns it.
Project and staff descriptions
Claude prepares
Past project write-ups and staff resumes get tailored to each pursuit, so you stop copying and trimming the same paragraphs by hand.

Specification review
Claude prepares
Claude compares specification sections against drawings or schedules and lists conflicts, missing references and inconsistent terms for a designer to resolve.
A person decides
A named person reviews the output before it leaves the building.
Submittal review
Claude prepares
A contractor's submittal gets checked against the spec requirements, with a list of items that match, differ or are missing.
The reviewer makes the call and stamps it.

RFI responses and meeting minutes
Claude prepares
Claude drafts responses from the relevant drawings and specs, and turns meeting notes into minutes with action items by owner.

Closeout documents
Claude prepares
Warranties, O&M manuals and punch list records get assembled and checked against the contract list, so what is missing is visible early.

A closer look
Three workflows, step by step.
- An RFP response
- Public-sector and large-client solicitations ask for a lot. Claude reads the document, produces a requirement-by-requirement checklist with page limits and forms, and drafts sections from your best past responses. The pursuit lead decides the strategy and fee and keeps the voice. The checklist alone prevents the late-night discovery of a missing form.
- Spec and drawing checks
- Large specifications cross-reference themselves and the drawings, and conflicts hide in the gaps. Claude reads sections side by side and lists contradictions and missing references. A designer reviews each flag. It is a second reader that does not tire, not a replacement for the first.
- A submittal check
- Claude lists each spec requirement and whether the submittal shows it, then marks items that differ. The reviewer opens the flagged pages and decides. Review turnaround improves, and the file records why each item was accepted.
What stays with your people
Claude drafts. A person decides.
- Licensed professionals keep responsibility for design and professional judgment
- Principals own strategy, fees and what the firm promises in a proposal
- Submittal and RFI decisions are made and stamped by the reviewer
- Client relationships stay with the people who hold them
Where a mistake would cost money, a license or a relationship, a named person reviews the output before it leaves the building. That is how we set up every workflow, and we write down who reviews what.
Where to start
Three packages. Start wherever you are.
Start with Launch if
Your principals, project managers and marketing staff are not using Claude yet, and you want the whole firm faster on proposals and documents.
Start with Build if
Proposals and RFP responses eat the most hours, and you want that process rebuilt end to end around your own past work.
Start with Scale if
You already use AI inside the firm and want to offer clients something new, such as faster document review as part of a service.
Everything runs in your own accounts. See the packages for how each one is done.
What we know and what we do not
No client here yet. The Diagnostic tells you if it fits.
Setanta has no published client in engineering or architecture, and we do not claim one. Firms differ in discipline, in the clients they pursue and in the project software they use. Because the work is licensed, what we would build assists with drafting and checking and leaves professional judgment entirely with your people.
Our one published client story is THG Insurance, an independent agency in Wilmington, NC. It shows the pattern: find the paperwork that sits between a person and a decision, and put Claude on it. The free Operating Diagnostic is where we find out whether your business has that pattern.
Questions
What owners in this industry ask.
Can Claude write proposals for an A&E firm?
It can draft them. Claude reads the solicitation, builds a compliance matrix and writes sections from your past proposals and project descriptions in your voice. A principal edits and owns the result. The biggest gain is often the checklist, which catches missing forms and requirements early.
Can it review specifications?
As a second reader. Claude compares specification sections with each other and with drawings and lists conflicts and missing references. A designer reviews every flag and decides. It speeds up checking and does not replace professional review.
Who is responsible for the output?
Your licensed professionals, exactly as now. Claude drafts and flags, and a named person reviews and approves. Design decisions, stamps and what the firm promises in a proposal stay with the people who hold those responsibilities.
Do you have A&E clients?
No. Setanta's one published client story is THG Insurance in Wilmington, NC. This page describes what we would build for a firm, and the free Operating Diagnostic tells you whether it fits before you spend anything.
What is the free Operating Diagnostic?
A free call (book a time) that looks at how your team works today. It finds where Claude would move your numbers first and the process worth fixing first, and says which package fits. If it is not the right time, we say so.
